United States Real Estate Law
A US-centric perspective on the fundamentals of property rights,
land use, legal and financing agreements, and investment fund structuring.
About the Course
Unlike financial securities, real estate is governed at a localized level. The course examines the most pertinent concepts encountered in the selection, development, acquisition, financing, leasing, and sale or exchange of real property. The course analyzes the fundamentals of U.S. property rights by providing an in-depth study of essential real estate legal theory. Specific attention focuses on different forms of real estate investment funds or vehicles, transactions, and legal considerations, including contract negotiations, underwriting due diligence, brokerage, title transfers, title insurance, liens, property encumbrances, taxes, secured finance agreements, environmental, and more. The course concludes with consideration of various risk management, environmental, and conservation issues.
