CRAA Certification Process
Step Number 1

Confirm You’re Eligible and Register with RPII

To become a CRAA® candidate, you must first enroll with RPII AND register to take the CRAA® Exam. To qualify for candidacy, you need to satisfy at least one of the following requirements:

  • Be a current undergraduate student enrolled in a degree-granting bachelor's program or equivalent from an accredited institution; note:  you must complete your degree before obtaining CRAA® certification.
  • Have completed a bachelor's program or equivalent and received a degree from an accredited institution.
  • Have accumulated 2,000 hours or more of verifiable work or industry experience related to the real assets profession.
Step number 2

Pass the CRAA® Exam

The CRAA® Exam assesses your fluency in fundamental real assets topics in both public and private markets. The Exam focuses on four main types of income-producing real assets — real estate, infrastructure, timberland, and agriculture — across the spectrum of public and private equity and debt.

Step number 3

Satisfy the Education Requirement

The Education Requirement acknowledges the diverse nature of the built and natural environments. To fulfill this requirement, you need to provide evidence of either (i) a bachelor's degree or equivalent in any field or (ii) 6,000 hours of qualifying work or industry experience directly related to real assets professions.

Step number 4

Satisfy the Professional Experience Requirement

The Professional Experience Requirement requires you to hone your expertise and build the real-world skills expected of modern real assets professionals. You must have at least 4,000 hours of relevant professional experience, which can be accumulated before, during, or after enrollment in the CRAA® Program.

Step number 5

Satisfy the Ethics Requirement & Submit Final Application

As the final step in the certification process, you must submit the CRAA® Certification Application and fulfill the Ethics Requirement. This attestation demonstrates your commitment to maintaining high ethical standards in the real assets profession. Once RPII approves your application, you will officially become a CRAA® certificant.

“For anyone looking to advance their real assets knowledge and skills, the CRAA® Program offers unmatched value.”
