Checking-In for the Exam

Arrival at the Testing Center

We recommend arriving at the testing center at least 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time for check-in. If you arrive after your scheduled exam start time, you may not be allowed to taker the exam, and any fees paid may be forfeited.

Building a support network is a good practice in preparing for the CRAA® Exam. However, any friends, relatives, or other individuals who may accompany you to the testing center will not be permitted to wait inside the testing center and cannot make contact with you for the duration of your examination experience.

Check-in and Security

The secure check-in process safeguards the integrity of the CRAA® Exam by verifying your identify.

The testing center will validate your identification according to the Identification Policy.

The testing center also may perform a security check, which could include verifying your fingerprint and/or signature. This security check ensures that each candidate has a single RPII record, preventing unauthorized individuals from taking the CRAA® Exam on behalf of someone else.

Your Personal Belongings

According to the Personal Belongings Policy, you will be required to leave your personal belongings outside the testing room. RPII cannot guarantee the security of your personal belongings. We encourage you to leave your personal belongings at home or locked securely in your vehicle. Study materials, notes, and/or study guides are not permitted in the testing center.

No electronic devices of any form, with the exception of an approved calculator, are allowed in the testing room. You are not permitted to access electronic devices other than an approved calculator during the CRAA® Exam. Reference the Personal Belongings Policy for a complete list of prohibited electronic items.

Neither RPII nor the third-party testing center assumes any responsibility for candidates’ personal belongings.

During the Exam

Taking Breaks During the Exam

The testing portion of the CRAA® Exam is divided into two 150-minute sections (five hours total) separated by an optional 30 minute scheduled break. Once the allotted time of 150 minutes for a section expires, you will not be able to return to that section to change or submit answers. Within each testing session, you will be able to move through the exam questions at your own pace.

During testing, candidates are allowed up to two (2) unscheduled breaks. However, the exam clock continues during unscheduled breaks and no additional time will be allotted. A third-party testing proctor may accompany you during an unscheduled break. Electronic fingerprints may be used to record each time you leave and return to the examination room.
