David Ling, PhD

David Ling is the McGurn Professor of Real Estate and the Director of the Master of Science in Real Estate program in the Department of Finance at the University of Florida. David is a past President of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA) and was Co-Editor of the Associations’ journal, Real Estate Economics. He has also edited special issues for Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, and Global Finance Journal. His textbook (co-authored with Wayne Archer) titled Real Estate Principles: A Value Approach (6th edition) is the most widely used principles of real estate textbook at universities that offer at least a four-year undergraduate degree. David is both a Fellow and faculty member, as well as the ex-Dean, of the Weimer School of Advanced Studies in Real Estate. David is also currently a Fellow and advisory board member of the Real Estate Research Institute, a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Designationed Surveyors (FRICS), and an appointed member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trust’s (NAREIT) Research Council. He completed a three-year (part-time) Fellowship in The Department of Land Economy at the University of Cambridge and has also served as a visiting professor at the University of Reading and the National University of Singapore. David received an MBA in finance and PhD in real estate and economics from The Ohio State University.
